Dr. Benjamin Hellings and Prof. Noel Lenski at Yale University have been awarded a MacMillan Center Faculty Research Grant from The Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale to further their collaboration with The Coin Hoards of the Empire project.
The formal collaboration started in 2016 and since then Yale has been contributing data to the CHRE database. With the generous grant, three students will assist Lenski and Hellings with additional data for hoards found in Luxembourg and Germany. For the latter, they will also be adding hoard data from outside the Empire. The students involved are Kevin Hoffman (Ph.D. candidate in History), Lester Stephens (Ph.D. candidate in Classics & History), and Michael Kearney (M.A. candidate in Classics).
The contributed data derives from the dataset assembled by Dr. Hellings for his DPhil (The monetary integration of northwest Europe during the Roman period, Oxford, 2016).
