In the autumn of 1967, deep ploughing near Felsőtengelic brought to the surface numerous Roman coins. With the permission of the National Museum of Hungary, the Balogh Adam Museum undertook a metal detector survey of the area and recovered several more coins. In 1968, an excavation of the findspot uncovered a large grey-ware urn which contained a further 782 coins in what appeared to be a Roman villa building.
